SOROPTIMIST INTERNATIONAL OF CALISTOGA

SHATTERS ALL EXPECTATIONS AT THEIR 22nd ANNUAL CRAB FEED FUNDRAISER This past Saturday, March 2, 2024, SIC held a record-breaking fundraising event that exceeded all expectations. Historically, the SIC Crab Feed is their largest fundraiser of the year. However, it was put on hold for the past few years due to Covid. It was resurrected on March 2, 2024, and the results were awe-inspiring. Maryann Salinger, President of SIC had this to say about the evening, “Wow, what an incredible event! It was impressive how our community came out on such a cold and rainy evening to support us. They arrived in droves and the mood was upbeat and festive. We sold out early and people were happy that we were back. Volunteers, guests, sponsors & donors, and student helpers everyone had fun, and it ran so smoothly. It made me proud to be a Soroptimist!” Toni Hunt, the fundraising chair, was ecstatic, "When we started planning for this event, after not having done it for four years, we weren’t sure how it would go. We couldn’t be happier with the results! It was wonderful to see so many people, from Calistoga and beyond, enjoying the crab and fantastic atmosphere at the Boys & Girls Club. We served 800 lbs. of crab to 234 guests who generously contributed to our event to the tune of $129,310 in gross receipts! Our fund-a-need lot raised $14,250 for our education programs and scholarships. Just remarkable! We are very appreciative of this community that is so supportive of our organization." Funds raised will support all the important programs that SIC spearheads and funds.

“Drive Through” Crab Feed and wine raffle

Soroptimist International of Calistoga is a volunteer movement that began 65 years ago. For the past 19 years, we have had the privilege of hosting you and at our annual Crab Fest & Auction. In that time, our efforts and your generous contributions have resulted in more than $850,000 in funding for programs and projects utilized to transform the lives of women and girls in need.

We are heart-broken that we are unable to host an in-person event due to the current global pandemic in this, our 20th anniversary year. However, with the overwhelming economic and educational needs of the women and girls who are supported by our programs, the members of SI Calistoga are determined to find a way to continue to provide the necessary funding in this historically challenging time. Therefore, in celebration of the 20th anniversary of our fundraiser and of the women and girls who have been and will be assisted by our programs, we have taken the Crab Fest on the road…

On Saturday, March 6th, we invite you to participate in our “drive through” dinner and wine raffle event. Delicious crab dinners prepared with care by Cal Mart may be purchased online here for pick-up on the afternoon of March 6th. The dinners are $75.00 per person, and because of limited service capacity, we are only able to make 200 dinners available. All purchases must be made online by Monday, February 22nd at noon, and will include a generous portion of crab (3 lbs.), cocktail sauce, Caesar salad, manicotti pasta with instructions for re-heating, dinner roll and Strawberry Cream cake for dessert. At the time of purchase, you will choose a pick-up time for your individually packaged meal. Dinner pick-up will take place behind Cal Mart on First Street. For questions, please send us an email or call 707-548-3726.

We know that many of you may be unable to participate in this “drive through” event, and we humbly ask that you continue to champion our cause through sponsorships, wine raffle ticket purchases, and straight donations to our programs. Please show your advocacy for the women and girls of our community by participating in this important fundraising event.

We are thankful for your consideration and look forward to next year when we are able to host you in-person for our annual crab fest. Until then, please stay safe and accept our most sincere appreciation for your support during these difficult times.
